James A. Jones
James A. Jones, Sr., Esquire, is a proud Spartanburg native. He attended Spartanburg High School, graduating with honors. He served 20 years at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he was promoted to Deputy Chief Council at the DHS Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He is the founder and managing attorney of James A. Jones, PC, an immigration and human rights law firm. James also serves as a board member for Spartanburg County School District 7, pressing hard to improve educational opportunities and advancement for our students.
James graduated from Wofford College with honors in 1994. He went on to earn his law degree from the Florida State University College of Law. After living more than 20 years in Miami, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte, North Carolina, he made a conscious decision to return home to serve.
James is a democracy champion. James volunteered countless hours to propel President Barack Obama and U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock to victories. James’ efforts helped both Florida and Georgia to reach voting records, despite long waiting lines to vote. As Mayor, Jones aims to promote full suffrage, to encourage every eligible voter to participate in every election in Spartanburg.
Beyond his professional life, James is a devoted father of three children, two girls and a boy. With deep local roots, proven leadership, and a passion for justice, James A. Jones is ready to bring independent, bold, and fresh leadership to the City of Spartanburg as Mayor. Please join James A.
